‘Extensive’ Vandalism at CBD Shop Prompts Arrest of Former Employee

SIMI VALLEY – A middle-of-the-night act of alleged vandalism at a CDB oil store in Simi Valley led to a pursuit that ended in Thousand Oaks with the arrest of a former employee early Saturday, authorities said.

Events unfolded around 12:49 a.m. when a caller reported seeing a man with a metal object smashing windows at Chakra Organics at 4210 Los Angeles Ave., according to the Simi Valley Police Department. The shop sells lotions and oils containing cannabidiol, or CBD, a compound of the cannabis plant that does not make people high but is typically used for aches and pains.

The caller said the man had been at the location damaging property for more than 15 minutes, authorities said, and was linked to a gray vehicle.

When officers arrived at the shop, located in a strip mall east of Tapo Canyon Road, they found “extensive damage” to the interior and exterior, the department reported, though the suspect was gone.
