MJBizCon was again a resounding success leaving all attendees in a very upbeat mood upon departure. Not only is the exhibit all crowded from 10am to 6pm but then the fun really starts. There are hundreds of elite parties and receptions to attend into the wee hours of the morning each night. At the end of day one a host of opportunities developed.
My Wednesday Evening
Electrum Partners and its gregarious leader Leslie Bocskor hosted an event for their client PuraPhy at the Bellagio Hotel. Leslie has been in the industry as long as anyone I know and speaks frequently at investor events. Electrum Partners is a venture development company specializing in medical and adult use cannabis and ancillary businesses.
A lot of Zigzagging that night so my next stop was the Pro Farms event at the Encore Suites. This Santa Barbara based cultivation event hosted a very elegant affair at a 3 bedroom two level Tower Suite overlooking The Strip. All during the event a polished company video played on the giant screen TV in the living room as a reminder of the hosts.
Now it was back the other direction again to the IAnthus event at the Sky Bar. This is a most stop on the strip and located at the Waldorf Astoria property in City Center. Leaders from the capital markets enjoyed the spectacular views of the Strip and Las Vegas skyline while sipping their favorite mixed drink concoction.
One more stop at another suite at the Bellagio before we made our way to the Boveda / Grasslands event at a private home in Las Vegas about 10 min off the strip. By this time the party favors had moved noticeably to the cannabis end and away from alcohol.
Finally back to a 15,000 sq ft Sky Suite at The Palms to join my good friend Roie Edery and his company Wayv the B2B cannabis logistics platform. This event was a tough ticket and very well attended. The action went on well into the night and some were probably still there when the sun came up.
A little exercise
This kind of furious activity kept on going all week. Not only that but you couldn’t go very far without running into someone from the show in your hotel lobby. The only time I had for any exercise was the walk I insisted upon making back and forth from the Encore to the Convention Center. While it was a good 25 minute hike you really couldn’t make it any faster by car with 37,000 converging on the same site. Imagine trying to park for a Laker Game in Downtown and you get the idea.
The week went by so quickly and while we attendees are very tired there are many including yours truly who wish we could go back right now!!!!
