Pot advocates say equity essential piece of federal reform

Cannabis legalization advocates representing a cross-section of interests said on Wednesday that federal legalization will likely not go forward without a strong social equity component and that the policy goals of industry leaders and criminal justice reformers were more aligned than ever.

The comments were aired during a webinar moderated by Barak Cohen, chair of the cannabis group at Perkins Coie LLP, and provide a window into conversations with lawmakers about the direction cannabis policy will take in a newly Democratic-controlled Congress.
