For Leaf Dispensary, the third time was the charm.

After two previous locations for its planned medical marijuana dispensary in Thousand Oaks fell through, a third site was unanimously approved by the City Council Tuesday night.

“Congratulations,” Mayor Claudia Bill-de la Peña told David MacFarlane, who represented Leaf at the meeting. “It’s taken quite a while.”

Leaf was given the green light by the Council to open the dispensary in 2019, the second company to receive the council’s permission to run a medical marijuana retail operation in the city.

Leaf was initially going to set up shop at 2400 Willow Lane, but later notified the city that unexpected leasing issues would prevent them from opening there, city officials said.
